Evidence-Based and Evidence-Informed Programs: Prevention program descriptions classified by CBCAP evidence-based and evidence-informed categories The movement to promote evidence-based practices for child maltreatment prevention has been a priority for the work of Community-Based Child Abuse Prevention (CBCAP) Lead Agencies for the last several years. The impetus was the result of efforts already underway across the country and was accelerated by the Federal Office of Management and Budget’s (OMB) Program Assessment Rating Tool (PART) process for assessing the effectiveness of all federally funded programs. The approved PART measure, now in effect across all federally-funded CBCAP programs, is to increase by 3% annually the percentage of CBCAP funds that supports evidence-based and evidence-informed (EB/EI) programs and practices. This document provides a brief discussion of the categories and system put into place to measure the increases and includes a matrix and descriptions of several EB/EI programs. We hope this document will serve as one tool for assisting those engaged in child abuse and neglect prevention and family support as the field strives to provide the most effective services to children and families.
